The victim's bank information is stolen with a fake e-mail disguised as "GIB Tax Office".

Typical Scenario

  1. Email arrives: "There is a tax refund in your name"
  2. Link is clicked
  3. Fake form is filled out
  4. Bank information is obtained
  5. Account is emptied

Real Tax Office

  • Does not send e-mail (generally)
  • Refunds via gib.gov.tr (e-Government)
  • Does not ask for information via phone/SMS
  • TCK art.158/1-f IT fraud
  • TCK art.135 personal data
  • TCK art.196 transaction on behalf of someone else (official authority impersonation)
