Method Details

  • Fake profile (stolen photo of relative)
  • Or hacked WhatsApp account
  • Rapid emotional exploitation
  • Not asking for confirmation by phone
  • TCK art.158/1-f fraud with information system (3-10 year)
  • TCK art.135 personal data
  • TCK art.243 entering the information system (if the account is stolen)

Prevention

  • Confirm messages from the "new number" by phone
  • Set a "code word" within the family
  • WhatsApp 2FA is active
  • Profile photo is hidden

  • Call your relative (verify the situation)
