Law No. 6284 envisages comprehensive measures for the protection of people who are exposed to all kinds of violence against women and domestic violence.
Measures
- Prohibition of not leaving the residence and workplace
- Prohibition of approaching the victim (distance determination)
- Prohibition of communicating (phone, e-mail, social media)
- Personal belongings delivery
- Restriction of personal contact with children
- Weapon surrender
- Precautionary alimony
Process
- Civil administrator (governor/district governor) can receive it immediately
- Family court approves within 24 hours
- First measure 6 months, if necessary is extended
In Case of Violation
For the perpetrator who does not comply with the decision, Coercive imprisonment from 3 to 10 days. The time increases with repetition.
ŞÖNİM (Violence Prevention and Monitoring Center)
Provides shelter, psychological support and legal aid to the victim.
