Scope
- Consumer cases over a certain amount (Consumer Court jurisdiction range)
- Disputes involving the delivery of money, services or goods
With the Consumer Arbitration Tribunal. Difference
- Arbitration panel: Low amount disputes (updated annually)
- Mediation: Amounts above the arbitration panel (required before going to court)
Process
- Selection of mediator from the list of the Ministry of Justice
- First meeting within 3 weeks
- Process 30 days + 1 week at most extension
- Agreement → quality of judgment
- Non-agreement → final report and lawsuit can be filed (within 2 weeks)
Exceptions
- Emergencies (precautionary measures, etc.)
- Enforcement proceedings
- Disputes within the jurisdiction of the Consumer Arbitration Committee
