Geographical indication is the registration of products identified with a certain geographical region. SMK article 33 et seq.
Species
- Indication of origin:Connection with the region is mandatory (e.g. "Bursa Peach")
- Name of origin: Production, raw materials and processing are entirely in the region (e.g. "Aydın Fig")

Protections

Supreme Court 11. HD
11. HD accepts that geographical indications provide additional protection for "public" products, and that the use of the same name on products produced in another region will be considered a violation.
