Turkey is a party to the 1951 Geneva Convention but implements it with geographical limitations.

Statuses

  • Refugee: Coming from Europe and meeting the Geneva criteria
  • Conditional refugee: Coming from outside Europe
  • Secondary protection: Not meeting the Geneva criteria but in danger
  • Temporary protection:For Syrians (mass influx)
