Adoption of a Turkish child by foreigners is regulated within the scope of 1993 Hague Child Protection Convention and TMK.

Conditions

  • Adoptor must be over 30 years of age
  • 18 years of age difference with the child
  • 1 year care relationship with the child (temporary custody)
  • Suitability for the child's best interests
  • Hague Convention approvals (both countries)

Process

  1. Family applies to the Ministry
  2. General Directorate of Children's Services suitability
  3. Temporary custody (1 year)
  4. Family court decision
  5. Citizenship transition
