Article 5 of Law No. 5651: Hosting providers are obliged to keep the contents and traffic information they serve for 1 year.

Information to be Kept

  • IP address
  • Access date and time
  • Accessed URL
  • Transmission protocol
  • Port number
  • Data amount
  • User ID (if any)

BTK Notification

The hosting provider reports its activities by registering with BTK.

Sanctions

  • Failure to store: Administrative fine from 30,000 TL to 100,000 TL
  • Failure to register with BTK: the same scope
  • Failure to respond to court/prosecutor's office request: additional penalty
