Insurance Arbitration Commission Application

Insurance Arbitration Commission is an alternative dispute resolution method established to quickly and cost-effectively resolve disputes between policyholders and insurance companies. It is within the body of the Insurance Association of Turkey.

Application Requirement

  • First written application to the insurance company
  • No result within 15 days
  • The subject is receivable/compensation

Limits

  • The decision is binding under a certain upper limit (updated annually)
  • Right to object above the upper limit.

Process

  1. Online application (komsyon.org.tr)
  2. Arbitrator appointment
  3. Expert report
  4. Decision (usually within 4 months)
  5. Right to object (not available for those below the upper limit)

Advantages

  • Low application fee
  • Fast (on average 4-6 months)
  • A lawyer is not mandatory
  • Expert witness costs are covered by the commission
