Labour Law Article 17: A notice period must be given before the employment contract is terminated.
Notice Periods
- 0-6 months: 2 weeks
- 6 months - 1.5 years: 4 weeks
- 1.5 - 3 years: 6 weeks
- Over 3 years: 8 weeks
Notice period Non-compliance
- If the employer does not give the time, he pays notice pay
- If the employee does not comply with the time, he pays it to the employer (usually)
- Amount: time × daily gross wage
Unjustifiable Situations
- Termination for just cause (article 25)
- Trial period (2 months usually)
Right Circumstances
- Termination for valid reason (incompetence, behavior)
- Economic termination
- Special reason for termination of the contract

9. HD accepts that notice pay is "complementary, not alternative" and that paying compensation is the protection of the right even if a termination period is allowed.
