Flight Cancellation and Delay: Compensation Rights

In case of flight cancellation/delay, the passenger has rights within the scope of DGCA (General Directorate of Civil Aviation) and SHY-Passenger regulations.

Cancellation Compensation

  • Up to 1500 km: 250 €
  • 1500-3500 km: 400 €
  • 3500+ km: 600 €
  • No compensation if 2 weeks notice

Delay Compensation

  • 2+ hours (short distance): meal + communication
  • 3+ hours (short distance): right to compensation
  • 5+ hours: ticket refund + compensation

Baggage Problems

  • Late baggage: daily compensation
  • Lost baggage: approximately 1,220 SDR (liability limit of the airline)
  • Damaged baggage: value repair

Exceptions (State of Emergency)

  • Weather conditions (fog, storm)
  • Civil authority decision
  • Strike (3. party)
  • Security threat

13. HD accepts that airline companies must prove their "state of emergency claim" concretely, and that a mere claim is insufficient.
